A) Be with Jesus and complete today's reading.
Start with preparing your mind and heart - Here are a few ideas to help: grab your Bible and journal, clear distractions, read Psalm 23 slowly, pray slowly asking God to open your heart to His voice during this time, or take a few slow breaths to begin. Choose a rhythm that you enjoy and supports moving your attention to God. A full list of recommendations can be found in the recourses section of the Member Dashboard (link below).
Once you feel prepared, open your Bible and read today's text: John Chapter 4:1-26. We recommend reading this text slowly and thoroughly (out loud or twice through has been helpful for us).
After reading, spend time reflecting on the text. Here are some questions to help:
- What stood out to you in the text?
- What did you notice about Jesus / God?
- What did you notice about the people involved in the story?
Don't overcomplicate this.
Think of the first thing(s) that come to mind from the text. Feel free to write them out in a journal or your notes app.
Next, we recommend responding to the text. You could write out thoughts, expand on the takeaways, or spend time in prayer on the topic you just read.
To end this time, we recommend 1-5 minutes of quietly resting in Jesus - Close your eyes, open your hands, and prayerfully receive the truth from today.
